Solutions for HealthcareNursing - Bedside Consent

Speed Bedside Consent and Interface Patient Data into EHRs with a Tablet-Based Solution

Up to 80 percent of patient consent forms are completed at bedsides. Retrieving and labeling forms and indexing them with patient records is time-consuming for hospital staff and filling in redundant information wastes patients’ time. Data is trapped on a consent form until it is scanned.

We have a solution – Access’s bedside consent solution, powered by Access Logical Ink (ALI).

ALI – part of the industry-leading Access Enterprise Forms Management (EFM) suite – is a tablet-based documentation solution that enables physicians and nurses to access and complete clinical documentation from anywhere in the facility.

Now, a nurse simply selects the patient, chooses the form type – such as a bedside consent – and passes the tablet to the patient to review and sign the form. There’s no redundant data to fill in, as ALI has already prefilled using data mapping from the patient record. Upon completion, the data is automatically interfaced into the patient’s EHR via native integration with the ECM/EDM system, and is immediately available across the hospital. ALI helps nurses and physicians easily transition to hybrid and electronic records by maintaining the speed, flexibility and simplicity of paper while removing its physical limitations.

With this innovative mobile solution, your hospital can:

  • Speed care delivery and patient service by accessing and completing bedside consents and other clinical documents on the fly
  • Give nurses and physicians more time with patients and less time on paperwork
  • Better serve people who speak another language with multilingual forms
  • Improve data mobility, accuracy, availability and security
  • Get clinicians up and running quickly with a familiar pen-based interface
  • Validate data at the point of collection to minimize errors and ensure all required information is obtained
  • Automatically pull in previous data for a patient to avoid redundant effort and ensure care continuity
  • Speed form completion with checkboxes, drop-downs and the ability to complete multiple areas with a single piece of information

Alternatively, nurses can present forms on a monitor and have the patient sign them using just one signature on an e-clipboard on e-signature pad. Access e-Signature interfaces a legally binding signature document and biometrics directly into the patient’s EHR.
