Complete Clinical and Patient Registration Documents on a Tablet and Interface Them Into EHRs

Access Logical Ink (ALI) is a tablet-based documentation solution that enables physicians and nurses to access and complete clinical documentation from anywhere in the facility. Patients can also review, fill in and electronically sign registration packets and consent forms. ALI can pull in data from previous clinical documents to speed form completion and help ensure care continuity.

Upon completion, forms data is automatically interfaced into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR) via the enterprise content/document management (ECM/EDM) system, and is immediately available across the hospital. ALI improves the patient experience and helps physicians easily transition to hybrid and electronic records by maintaining the speed, flexibility and simplicity of paper while removing its physical limitations. Even the least tech savvy hospital staff and patients feel comfortable with the familiar pen-based interface.

ALI can be applied across the hospital. Solutions include:

Clinical Documentation
A clinician simply selects the patient, chooses the form type – such as progress note, questionnaire and H&P – and completes it using the tablet’s stylus. Upon completion, the data is automatically interfaced into the patient’s EHR via the ECM/EDM system.

Patient Registration
A registration clerk registers the patient in the health information system (HIS), clicks a button and all required forms are sent to a tablet PC, with demographics pre-filled for the patient’s convenience. The patient reviews and signs the forms, the clerk reviews them, and they’re interfaced into the EHR directly.

Bedside Consent
Instead of pulling paper forms, a nurse simply selects the patient, chooses the form type – such as a bedside consent – and passes the tablet to the patient to review and sign the form. There’s no redundant data to fill in, as ALI has already prefilled it. Upon completion, the forms data is automatically interfaced into the patient’s EHR.

Clinical Questionnaires
With ALI, a clinician looks up the patient (by MRN or other unique identifier), chooses the form type – such as an MRI questionnaire – and completes it using the tablet’s stylus. Upon completion, the data is automatically interfaced into the patient’s PACS record and/or EHR via the ECM/EDM system.
