Our proven native integration methods enable Access Patient Labeling System (PLS) to intelligently map unique patient identifiers from your health information system, and to incorporate these into forms barcodes. The enterprise content/document management (ECM/EDM) system then uses these barcodes to auto-index the forms with the correct electronic health record (EHR) – with no manual indexing required.
Simultaneously, PLS outputs wristbands with the same identifiers, along with form ID. These help ensure positive patient identification (PPID) throughout the visit.
Access’s intelligent barcoding solutions also enhance patient safety on clinical floors. Access Patient Labeling and Reporting System (PLRS) supports bedside medication verification (BMV) and electronic medication administration (eMAR) systems to help ensure appropriate and safe care.
When an order comes into eMAR system, a pharmacy technician can avoid the time-consuming and error-prone task of writing on medication labels. Instead, the Access system automatically outputs barcoded labels for the medication container/s. Before administering medication, nurses simply scan a patient’s barcoded wristband and then the medication label to ensure a positive match. In addition to improving the accuracy of medication dispensing, the Access solution can also be used for outputting barcoded labels for specimens, vital signs and other items collected at patients’ bedsides.
