Well, another HIMSS has come and gone, and my feet have just about recovered. I think that makes 12-straight shows for me, and as I wrote before the show, the best have been with Access. And Now for Something Completely Different

This was my fourth year at HIMSS, but it was like none other. The show typically is all about getting your products in front of as many people as possible and drumming up leads. To do so, you need to come up with creative ways to pull attendees into your booth. Every exhibitor prepares for months making sure their sales team knows the pitch, their marketing folks have some catchy messaging, and their booth staff is prepared to pass out plenty of swag.

Is HIMSS Really Over?

While HIMSS week seems to pass by so quickly, memories of the 2017 conference will last throughout the year for several reasons. The first was getting to meet many new prospects and partners. It also was great to catch up with old buddies, some of whom have been going to the show almost as long as our President Mark Johnston (37 years, back when HIMSS was focused on radiology imaging and other non-computer technology) and CTO Chuck Demaree (26 years, with his beard hair showing each year like rings on a giant redwood tree).

That means you successfully navigated the hour-long lines and non-existent Uber service at the airport, somehow found your way to and around the labyrinth that is the Orange County Convention Center, and attended a few after-hours events without having to wear mouse ears.
